"I don’t think man was meant to attain happiness so easily. Happiness is like those palaces in fairy tales whose gates are guarded by dragons: we must fight in order to conquer it."  - Alexandre Dumas, The Count of Monte Cristo (via bookmania)

"Don’t you know that a man being rich is like a girl being pretty? You wouldn’t marry a girl just because she’s pretty, but my goodness, doesn’t it help?"

I left behind a career in medicine to become an FBI agent four years ago because I believed in this country. Because I wanted to uphold its laws, to punish the guilty and to protect the innocent. I still believe in this country. But I believe that there are powerful men in the government who do not. Men who have no respect for the law and who flout it with impunity. I have come to the conclusion that it is no longer possible to carry out my duties as an FBI agent… that there is a culture of lawlessness that has prevented me from doing my job. That the real target of this committee’s investigation should be the men who are beyond prosecution and punishment.

"This town is my home. I love it. It’s quiet, peaceful. I don’t even wear a gun. I’ve seen and heard some of the sick and horrible things that go on outside my Home. At the same time, I knew we couldn’t stay hidden forever. That one day, the modern world would find us and my home town would change forever."
